OSPOTA – September 7, 2013

Welcome to all those that will be participating in the sixth annual Ohio State Parks On The Air contest.

As stated in the past, this event could not be successful without your continued participation. So we say THANK YOU to those Amateur Radio Operators that have been so loyal to this event. Ohio State Parks Emblem

Each year this event has grown and we anticipate another year of growth with participating Amateur Radio Operators already notifying us as to which Ohio State Park they will be operating from.

This is very encouraging to the OSPOTA committee and those of us in the Portage County Amateur Radio Service (PCARS), who brainstormed this event into being.

Let me remind you that the OSPOTA contest was conceived with three main goals in mind:

1. To promote public awareness of amateur radio and Ohio’s beautiful state parks system

2. To contribute to the recognition that Ohio has a very diverse and wonderful ecology

3. To promote camaraderie within the ranks of Ohio’s Amateur Radio Operators

Your participation has allowed these goals to be achieved. We agree it is a lot of fun to get out in a natural setting with your radio and see how well you can do at working operators in other Ohio State Parks.

The Rules and other documents for OSPOTA 2013 have been posted on the website. We are counting on everyone scoring even better this year.

So until September 7, 2013, and on behalf of the OSPOTA Committee, 73!

Chuck, W8PT
